However, since this quarry operation moves quite slowly, only 25 of the 30 permitted acres were bonded. All areas and boundaries were determined from a very rough map, scale 1"=500', with a contour interval of 40 feet. This map was inadequate, but was the only map we had. In the annual report for 1979, it appeared, from this inade- quate map, that we were close to the limit of the bonded acreage. Therefore, we requested bonding for the other 5 acres. As you know, this request was not acted upon by the board. In late 1979, we contracted to have an accurate topographic map of Slab Canyon drawn by aerial photogrammetric methods. This map, bcc-1429 clearly delineated the existing disturbed areas, and the limits of the deposit. In the annual report for 1980, we used this accurate updated map to determine the areas and location of our operation. From this accurate map, it was determined that the presently disturbed area is only 19 acreas, leaving us with 6 bonded acres which will supply our needs for several years. Thus, we do not need any additional bonded area as was requested with the annual report for 1979. The area outlined in green on the annual report for 1980 is the 5-acre area which will be bonded and mined when the deposit in the presently bonded 25 acres is worked out. How~aver, this is several years in the future. We are not requesti)zg this additional bond at this time.
