• MASS BALANCE
Remaining B-Pit Airspace Volume
During the year 2001, CEC disposed of 43,076 tons of mixed fly and
bottom ash, obtained from the Trigen Colorado Energy Corporation facility
(see Ash Disposal Data), in the south end of B-Pit, using approximately
9,440 bank cubic yardst (BCY) of overburden material to cover the disposal
areas in accordance with local (Weld County) regulations for solid waste
disposal sites, specifically to control dust and fugitive debris in the
immediate areas of the pits. No mine waste rock was delivered to the
Keenesburg site for disposal during the year. Approximately 8,340 BCY of
overburden material was used in the reclamation of southern portions of B-
Pit. Approximately 6,858 BCY of topsand was moved from topsand piles
A-1 and B-1 as part of the reclamation work at the southeast corner of B-Pit.
1,538,070 BCY
(to proposed final reclamation contours)

Remaining A-Pit Airspace Volume
0 BCY
(to proposed final reclamation contours)
Long-term Spoil Remaining On Site
Topsand Stockpiled On Site
Stockpile A-1 138,800 BCY
Stockpile A-3 113,400 BCY
Stockpile B-1 129,150 BCY
523,280 BCYZ
381,350 BCY
' Denoted as "cubic yazds in place"
2 As indicated in the 2000 AHR Report, previously reported values appear [o have been a calculation
error carried forward in past Reports. In order to address the Long-Term Spoil Pile (LTSP) overburden
volume discrepancy, a technical revision to the facility permit will be completed. The technical revision
will address the required overburden volume necessary to complete periodic and fmal cover in B-Pit for the
remaining duration of reclamation aMivities (estimated to be approximately 450,000 bcy). To achieve the
requued overburden volumetric balance, the technical revision will propose raising the final reclamation
grade, or the approximate original contour (AOC), by approximately 1 [0 2 feet in the LTSP area.
AHR-2001 -126-
