The Operator is to visually inspect the permit area for the Sanborn Creek Mine and the Sanborn East Tract for mass movement Features in June and November of each year. Particular attention is to be focused upon the modern landslide on the east valley slope of Coal Gulch, the landslide features within the unnamed drainage between the Sanborn Creek and Coal Gulch drainage and the modern landslide on the west valley slope of Hawksnest Creek. If new mass movement features are noted, they are to be brought to the attention of the Division. The June visual inspection was performed on June 7, 1994. The three landslide features were walked. Upper scarp markings were evident, but no indication of recent mass movement was based on appearance of soil and vegetation in the bottom of the scarp trenches and along the toe of the slides. The November visual inspection was performed during the period from October 25 to November 10, 1994 in conjunction with spring and surface water monitoring. The modern landslide areas in Coal Gulch and Hawksnest Creek, as well as the ridge line in Sections 3 and 10 above the 2nd North pillar sections received particular attention during the spring monitoring on October 25.
