Richard D. Lamm
Governor

DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
David H. Getches, Executive Director
MINED LAND RECLAMATION Dl~i
DAVID C. SHELTON, Director
DATE: November 1, 1985
T0: Dan Mathews
FROM: Bob Liddle ~~
RE: CYCC, Mine No. 1, 2, and Eckman Park Mines 1984 Annual Hydrologic
Report - File C-79-177
As you know, the CYCC AHR was used this past summer to update the CHIS for
Seneca, as well as to assist the Mined Land Reclamation Division during the
summer field sampling program.
Although it is late into the year, I feel all AHR's should be reviewed and
commented on for the operator's benefit. This will be done in the future.
The 1984 AHR submitted by CYCC was a complete compilation of data collected at
the mines. I found the organization easy to follow. My only major problem
was with the lack of a large scale map which would have made it easier to
identify sample locations.
The report does not discuss new springs, interpretation of data, water
consumption, trends, or verification of predicted impacts. However, it
appears that MLRD never specifically made this a requirement of CYCC.
Our own interpretation of the data has raised some concerns that have already
been forwarded to CYCC. Although it appears that some monitoring requirements
could be reduced, without some interpretation by CYCC. I cannot recommend any
reduction or termination of the monitoring requirements at this time.
Please relay my apologies to CYCC for the delay in responding to this report.
/ph
Doc.
