The Division recommends that for future AHRs, surface water samples from the
Seneca II Mine site be compared to the stream segment standazds provided in CDPHE
Regulation No. 33.
3. SCC provided a good discussion on groundwater quality Vends and compazative analysis
with water quality standazds. On several occasions, saznples from groundwater monitoring wells
exceeded the Basic standazds for Ground Water provided in CDPHE Regulation No. 41.
Specifically, SCC indicates that pH, fluoride, iron, manganese, and mercury exceeded the applicable
standard.
Please note that the Division has adopted changes to our surface and groundwater monitoring
Rules as of March 21, 2001 (refer to Rule 4.05.13). The rule changes incorporate compliance with
applicable groundwater standazds at established points of compliance. The Division is in the process
of implementing the point of compliance rules. Additional information regarding downgradient
groundwater quality and/or additional groundwater monitoring points may be required to establish
appropriate points of compliance.
If you have any questions concerning the Division's review of the 2000 AHR, please contact me.
Sincerely,
M.(Pc~
Michael P.
