1988 = 0.104 cfs (reservoir did not completely
fill until February 25, 1988)
This year's average flow value, 0.103 cfs, is 44$ of the historic (1988-
2006) average flow value, 0.234 cfs. Due to high sediment levels, this
pond was dredged out in 2002. In April 2005, it was noted that the
discharge pipe riser had rusted out. It was replaced in July 2005 with
an eight inch plastic pipe set at an elevation approximately four feet
above the elevation of the old dewatering orifice. No flow occurred
after the repair until October 2005. Review of the TDS plot (SF 0.5)
indicates an increasing trend, with some recent stabilization.
- Surface Water Site SW-S2-12 (SSB12). This site monitors Bond Creek at
its confluence with Fish Creek. It is monitored May through July on a
monthly basis. This year, no flow was observed at this site in July,
although NPDES 008 upstream was flowing almost continuously. This
reduction in flow is due to stream channel infiltration and
evapotranspirat ion. The TDS plot indicates a recently stable trend.
- Surface Water Site SW-S2-11 (SSFil) This site monitors Fish Creek
upstream of its confluence of Cow Camp Creek. It is required to be
monitored May through July on a monthly basis, but only if either Sites
10 or 12 are flowing (for this year, only in May and June). However,
field parameters and flow estimates may sometimes be provided
voluntarily when not required. This site is upstream of Seneca II Mine
discharges.
- Surface Water Site SW-S2-13 (SSF13) This site monitors Fish Creek
downstream of its confluences with Cow Camp Creek and Bond Creek. It is
monitored at the same frequency as Site 11. The increase in TDS values,
from Site 11 to Site 13, was from 300 to 340 mg/1 (13g increase) in May
and 600 to 630 mg/1 (5°s) in June. No TDS samples were collected in July.
This site displays a decreasing TDS trend.
On Page 7-247 of the Seneca II Mine Probable Hydrologic Consequences
(PHC), predictions were made for the TDS increases to be observed on
14
