•
1991 ANNUAL MINE INFLOW REPORT
Introduction
In compliance with Stipulation No.29, Permit No. C-81-038,
Cyprus orchard Valley Coal Company submits the following Annual
Mine Inflow Report for the period of July 1, 1990 through June 30,
1991.
Mining Locations and Projections
Pillar retreat mining of Panel H was underway in July, 1990
and continued through September. Entry development of the II West
Submains was continued to access Panel A+. The first four
crosscuts of Panel A+ were completed by December 1, 1990. Mining
emphasis was then shifted to the advance development of Panel A.
Advance development of Panel A was completed by mid-April and
pillar retreat mining of the northernmost portion of this panel
continued through June.
Overcast construction and the initial advancement of the II
West Submains to the western portion of the lease area was
undertaken in June, 1991.
Mining projections for
1992 include the completion
retreat mining in Panel B.
Submains to the west of Ea:
Long Term Mine Planning Map
Mine Inflow
the period of July, 1991 through June
of mining in Panel A, and advance and
Further development of the II West
~t Roatcap Creek (see Permit Term and
No. 2-5) will continue as well.
The mine inflow study at the Orchard Valley West Mine was
completed during June, 1991. Pillar retreat mining in Panel A was
underway during this time. No measurable inflows were noted during
the mine inflow inspection. Seven locations exhibited minor
seepage from both roof and floor sources, while five locations were
mapped as having accumulated water in sumps. Two additional
locations were mapped this year as exhibiting minor flows
potentially associated with faults or rock spars within the mine.
No measurable flows from either of these sites occurred during the
monitoring tour but wet conditions were noted in these areas of the
mine shortly after they were developed.
The inflows at the Orchard Valley West Mine continue to
consist of seepage from both the roof and the floor with roof
seepage appearing more predominate in 1991. Seeps continue to
exhibit the characteristic pattern expected when mine workings
intercept perched aquifers; flows dissipate and essentially cease
. anywhere from one to four weeks after interception by mine
workings. Seeps encountered during the 1991 monitoring failed to
