Dear Matthew:
The following is the Annual Hydrology Report for 1989 for the Bear Number
Three Mine.
In 1989, there were four complete alluvial well field tests taken at the
Bear Number Three Minesite. These tests were taken on the following dates:
March 21, 1989; July 7, 1989; August 16, 1989; and October 26, 1989. Copies
• of the results of these field tests are enclosed herewith.
In addition to the field tests, bottle samples were taken from both wells
on October 24, 1989. These samples were submitted to ACZ Laboratories, Inc. ,
for analysis. Copies of the results of these analyses are enclosed with this
report.
In response to our submittal of the 1988 Annual Hydrology Report, we
received a letter from you on March 21, 1989. This letter outlined the suspi-
cion on the part of the Division that alluvial well AAl had been contaminated
by surface water and that as a result the conductivity levels of the well were
not representative of the level contained within the alluvium. The letter
also requested that Bear submit a schedule for the drilling of a new well to
replace AAl. This request was complied with and on July 7, 1989, the new well
was ccupleted.
In 1989, there were no discharges from either of the sediment ponds at
the Bear Number Two Mine or the Bear Number Three Mine.
For the year 1989 we estimate that the entire operation at the Bear
Number Three Kline consumed a total of 672,000 gallons of water. There were no
outflows fron the mine during the year.
