The data presented is clear
and well formatted. The color map is also helpful and very easily read.
Monitoring point J18, located inside the southern gate road of projected Panel 3rd East is
reported to have subsided 11.9 feet as of June, 1995. Monitoring Point J19, 125 feet
removed was determined to have subsided only 0.5 foot. 11.9 feet is the largest subsidence
monitored to date above the Eagle mine. At that point in time, however, Monitoring Point
J18 had not yet been vertically undermined in the E seam. Because three adjacent panels
had been extracted in the E seam, as well as the overlying F seam, the Division is not
surprised that it had subsided. The Division is surprised at the large magnitude of the
subsidence reported. Could this monument have been mis-surveyed or disturbed?
Cyprus Empire should examine the monument in order to verify the subsidence
measurement. Further, if the subsidence is verified, Cyprus Empire should propose an
hypothesis for the observed subsidence. Please respond to this item by November 17, 1995.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
Erica S.
