Dept. of Natural Resource CHRISTIAN PIT AREA #1 RESPONSES TO RULE 2,41: Rule 2,41(1): Location and number of acres affected during that year. It is very difficult to identify the precise area operated during any particular year. The areas were rather small and tended to merge into each other in irregular fashions along the working face of the pit. As was stated in the introduction this operation is over the 1976 permit boundary. This amounts to 47.7 acres of affected land. The attached map shows the area beyond the permit boundary. Rule 2.41(2): Locations and number of acres reclaimed for that year. In 1982 there was no reclamation accomplished at the Christian Pit area #1. Rule 2.41(3); The location and number of acres in various stages of reclamation (back- filled, graded, topsoil replaced, revegetated). On the south side of the operation there is 2.5 acres covered in the topsoil stockpile. On the north side of the operation there is 3.3 acres that has been graded and topsoiled but has not been seeded. Rule 2.41(4): The species of vegetation planted, the locations and approximate dates of planting. In 1979, 45.9 acres were seeded by Randall and Blake. This is the only seeding that has occurred since the 1976 permit was approved. Rule 2.41(5): The type and approximate quantity of fertilizers, organic material, or soil conditioners used and location of use. No record exists of what soil amendments were used on the seeding project. It can only be assumed some fertilizer was applied.
