112d-3 Annual Report
Henderson Mine and Mill (Permit No. M-77-342) Page 2
Mill Site
The tailings basin water pool elevation increased to 8,799, which increased the disturbed
acreage in 1998 to 963 acres from 938 acres in 1997. In the last couple of years, as a
result of improved fly-over information and computer software, we have etrlrancc:d our
ability to accurately quantify disturbance at the Mill tailings basin. It appeazs that the 963
acres of reported disturbance overestimates our actual disturbance by approximately 60
acres. We understated that DMG has on its agenda to refine bonding requirements for
Henderson Mine and Mill, so we can address this issue at that time. The discreptmcy will
more [Iran offset any additional disturbances anticipated during 1999.
Henderson 2000 Project
The Henderson 2000 overland conveyor disturbed an additional 40 acres of props;rty. We
have, however, bonded for reclamation of 53 acres, which represents the entire attected
area for the conveyor. We also disturbed an additional 11 acres near [he rail port:31 as a
result of Henderson 2000 construction activities. We do trot expect to increase the
disturbed acreage itr connection with the Henderson 2000 Project in 1999.
Please contact me at (303) 271-0107, ext. 1287 if I can be of further assistance.
Sincerely.
' / ~~~~J
Tony~Lucero
Envirotmrental Coordinator
Henderson Mine
cc: Anne Beierle, Henderson Mine
Erich Bower, Henderson Mill
