(ACZ) has performed the 1992 monthly and
quanerly surface and groundwater monitoring, and the annual seep and spring survey for the
Grassy Gap Mine in Routt County, Colorado. The results of hydrologic monitoring and field
investigations aze documented in the attached 1992 Annual Hydrology Report.
ACZ initiated monitoring in May 1991 and has collected data necessary to satisfy requirements
stipulated by the Office of Mined Land Reclamation (OMLR), and Colorado Wastewa[er
Discharge Permits (COG850023) currently in place.
In response to the letter dated February 4, 1992, from the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation
Division (CMLRD) (now OMLR), reviewing the 1991 Annual HydrologyReport, the comments
and recommendations of OMLR have been incorporated into [he 1992 report. Our response
to I[ems 4 and 6 in that letter follow:
/tem 4: It appears that the September sample was submitted for ficll smite quality testing in
OctoGrr. Please explain.
Response: The sample was collected on September 30, 1991 and submitted [o the
laboratory the following day, October 1, 1991.
/tem 6: Mercury was not tested for on the 9/30/91 sample for site MW-3. Please explain this
discrepancy.
Response: The mercury analyses was mistakenly omitted by the laboratory and stricter
quality assurance for the project has been initiated during the past year.
