• Re vegetation <br />Seeding and P1 an[inq <br />A coal of 117.6 actes were permanently seeded a[ Che Seneca II-w Mine in 1999. Seeded <br />areas rncluded 117.8 acres seeded wr [h Seed Mix No. 1 - Upland Srtes and Ephemeral <br />Drarnages and supplemented with additional forb and shrub seed, see Table 99.3 and Table <br />99;4. The cut and frll slopes on the new haul road "H" were Beetled with a <br />h ydroseed/h yd romulch machine ISee phO(OS). Permanent seeded and shrub planting areas ace <br />shown on drawrng 2w99-3. Reclaimed land seeding was completed wrth a Laird rangeland type <br />drill seeder. A copy of the seed tags is included under the SEED TAG exhr6it. All <br />permanent seeding was completed in late September and ea [ly October. <br />Shrub Seedlrng Pl an ti nq <br />During September 1995, 6502 containe a zed native tree and shrub seedlings were planted in <br />prepared plots at Seneca II-W mine. A crew from Bitte coot Native Growers, Hamilton, MT <br />planted 3922 seedlings in shrub plot 2w99-1W (2.1 acres est.) and 3060 seedlings were <br />planted in shrub plot 2W99-2W (1.8 acres). See Table 99.5 for a complete shrub species <br />and numbers lrs ti ng. All seedlings were ]0" containerized tublings grown from seed <br />• collected near Seneca Mine and treated with mycorrhizal inoculant prepared from Seneca <br />sorls. The di rec[ shrub seed planting area is along Postmine <br />drainaye Channel 006-E1. <br />Monitoring <br />Re ve ge[a[ion monr[o n ng of permanen [ly revegetated areas was conducted dura ng the summer of <br />1999 by ES CO Associates, Inc. The 1999 annual revegetation monitoring report is submitted <br />as a separate document (E5C0 and SCC, 2000). <br />Weed Con[rel <br />Survey of nori ous weeds was carried out on the mine permit area during the 1999 field <br />season. Weed control acu vi ti es were conducted along the mine enCran ce road, near Pond <br />005, PonC OuE and Fond 009. Canada thistle IC irsium arvensel was the to rg e[ species in <br />control areas. 'Phe applied herbicide consisted of a tank mix of 2.5 gallons of 22K Tordon <br />and 2.5 gallons of 2, 9,-D with 250 gallons of water. A spot spray gun was used to <br />ccncen[[~[e c~nc~o] ac[rv ores on to rget areas.
