to be monitored for monthly flow and field parameters from May through November.
However, monitoring only went from June through November and a fourth spring, G-
26C, has been included in the spring monitoring program. Please explain these
discrepancies.
4. Permit application page 2.04-30 states that the french drains that were constructed as a
result of the 1993 slide need to be monitored for monthly flow and field parameters.
Field inspections show that there is 6 inch diameter black pipe in the area of the slide.
However, the 2000 AHR submittal states that the french drains were removed during
reclamation activities. Is the black pipe just a remnant of the french drain outlet that needs
to be removed? Please explain.
Figure 11 in the 2000 AHR submittal depicts the location of alluvial well AA 1, with the
annotation "destroyed by Nov. 97 landslide". Is this the old location of AAl and is the
new location different?
6. In the conductivity graph for the two alluvial wells, the conductivity for well AA-1 is
listed as being 2500umhos/cm for the year 2000. However, the chart on page 2 of the
AHR shows that the conductivity at AA-1 ranged from 4600 to 5300 umhos/cm for the
year 2000. Please reconcile this difference.
7. There are no data past 1998 for alluvial well AA3 on the four graphs that show
conductivity, iron, manganese and total dissolved solids. Please revise accordingly.
8. The water elevation data for 2000 for alluvial well AA1 is missing on the graph showing
water elevations for AA1 and AA3. Please revise.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Sincerely,
~~°O~
J seph J. dash
Environmental Protection Specialist
cc: Jim Stover (J.E.
