<br />undulatum), willow-herb, groundsmoke, gumweed, one-flower woodsunflower (Helianthella
<br />qtr jj~~), showy goldeneye, tailcup lupine, microseris (Microseris ~~), wild tarragon,
<br />Rocky Mountain penstemon, scorpionweed, Pacific aster, and mule's ear were present.
<br />Introduced annual and biennial (orbs, principally twolobe speedwell, comprised 7.9 percent of
<br />total vegetation cover. Jim Hill mustard and pennycress were minor contributors. Chickweed
<br />(Alsine fpgdjri<), bull thistle, hound's tongue, prickly lettuce, early stickseed, Russian thistle,
<br />salsify, tower mustard, and mullein were present. Native annual and biennial fortis accounted
<br />for 4.1 percent of total vegetation cover. Baby blue-eyes accounted for half of this average and
<br />together, linearleaf collomia, Richardson tansymustard, and microsteris provided the balance.
<br />Fremont goosefoot and denseilower pepperweed were also present.
<br />Introduced perennial cool season grasses comprised 32.6 percent of total vegetation cover.
<br />Smooth brome contributed three-fifths of this percentage while intermediate wheatgrass
<br />accounted for more than one-third. Meadow brome (Bromoosis bieberstienii) and orchard
<br />grass were minor contributors. Desert wheatgrass, tall fescue (~~ arundinacea), fescue
<br />( es u vo ina var. duriuscula), timothy, and Russian wildrye were also present. Native
<br />• perennial cool season grasses averaged 8.5 percent of total vegetation cover with Agassiz
<br />bluegrass contributing two-fifths. Sheep fescue accounted for one-quarter of this percentage
<br />while thickspike wheatgrass, basin wildrye, western wheatgrass, big bluegrass, and bluebunch
<br />wheatgrass accounted for the balance. Oniongrass, mountain brome, (oxtail barley, Montana
<br />wheatgrass, Canada bluegrass, beardless bluebunch bluegrass, Letterman needlegrass, Nelson
<br />needlegrass, and green needlegrass were also present. Introduced annual grasses, primarily
<br />cheatgrass, accounted for 3.1 percent of total vegetation cover. Japanese brome contributed the
<br />balance and wheat was present. Big sagebrush, a native shrub, provided all of this lifeform's
<br />1.0 percent of total vegetation cover. Additionally, Saskatoon serviceberry, chokecherry, and
<br />mountain snowberry were present.
<br />Total vegetation cover averaged 61.0 percent of total vegetation cover. Standing dead, litter,
<br />bare soil, and rock cover averaged 3.0, 29.5, 5.5, and 1.0 percent, respectively. Species
<br />density averaged 27.0 species per 100 sq. m.
