DMG Permit No. M-8&112
Quarterly, Monthly and Bi-weekly Sampling
Dear Mr. Dillie:
All required sampling was completed during the month of March. Enclosed are analytical reports
from Sangre De Cristo Lab (SDC) for the recent monthly sampling period as specified in the April
1992 Abatement Plan. The cross-reference table between sample identification numbers, sample
Types and sample locations is also attached. Analysis that have not been received will be
forwarded to you as I receive them. Field and rinse blanks were collected as part of the QA/QC.
On March 22, 1999 the proposed TR-26 West Pit Water Management Project document was
delivered to the Division.
All surface water stations were inspected and RS-4 and RS-6 were found to be dry.
Vacuum on the lysimeters was verified and no water was present to sample.
When we checked the piezometers on the main embankment of the tailings impoundment on
03/31 /99, the piezometers were dry or contained well below 12 inches of water.
The two west pii piezometers were measured for depth to water on 03/30/99, with the following
result: BF-1 was 12.00 ft and BF-2 was 15.68 ft. The other piezometers in the West Mine area were also
checked wish the following result: PW-1 was 14.10 ft, PW-2 was 15.00 ft, PW-3 was 23.55 ft and PW-4
was 26.35 ft.
The underdrain was measured at approximately 32 gpm.
The collection pond's leak detection system was sampled and pumped dry. The leak measured at
approximately 8 GPAD over the 124 days it was frozen.
Santa Fe well SF-5 was completed in March.
Wells M-24, M-25, M-26, M-29, M-30 and M-31 received additional development in March. The
additional well development was completed by Layne.
