Ms, Susan Mowry
September 25, 1985
Page -2-
to evaluate effect to structures, surface water and ground water, The second
type of monument was the closely spaced grids. CWI intends to measure the angle
of draw, time dependency of subsidence, total magnitude, before and after pro-
files and, in general, confirm the state-of-the-art study completed by Geo-Hydro
Consultants,
CWI has enclosed an analysis of the information that has been gathered in the
widely spaced grid, CWI would like reduction and delay of subsidence monitoring
because of the reduced tonnages and based on data already gathered from existing
monuments,
As I stated before, CWI is emphasiziny the subsidence efforts in the closely
spaced grids, Those grids were undermined in the 8 North-12 North panel area
and in the 9 East-1 North-1 East panel,
CWI anticipates mining in the 8 North-11 North panel and in the 8 East-5 North-
1 West panel, Both of these are overlain by the closely spaced grids, CWI has
already gathered information in the 12 North area to begin confirmation on the
Geo-Hydro study,
I believe that the permit application adequately addresses revisions in the sub-
sidence monitoring program. The expansion and termination of various monuments
is to be submitted by CWI and approved by CMLRD, We, therefore, request approv-
al of this reduction of monitoring,
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Sincerely,
Matthew S, Sakurada
Manager of Engineering
MSS:fec
Encl.
cc: Jim Pendleton, CMLRD
