FIRST HALF 200] SUBSIDENCE SURVEY REPORT
Sun~ev Data:
During the first half of 2001. subsidence survey data was collected periodically from
established monuments on the Union Pacific Railroad. Routt County Road No. 33 and
Foidel Creek in areas underlain by gate roads or panel centers during periods of mining in
the 12-Right lonewall panel (Panel No. 12). As is reflected in the data and on the
attached subsidence map. the ]2-Right lone.+~all panel did not directly undermine the
Hayden-Gore Pass. VJolcori Tap-Vl'olcott (P3C) and Western Area Power Administration
po+ver lines and Middle Creek during the first half of 2001.
The data and frequency for the survey monuments along the Union Pacific Railroad and
Routt County Road No. 33 are presented in the attached Table Nos. 1 through 2. The
post mining survey of Foidel Creek in areas underlain by the 12 Right gate road or panel
center +vill be performed in August 2001. The final subsidence profile for Foidel Creek
over Panel 12 Right +vill be submitted with the second half 2001 subsidence report.
The final subsidence profile for Middle Creek over Panel 2 was surveyed in July 2001
and is submitted in dra+aing form as pan of this first half 2001 subsidence report.
11. Structures:
Structures affected during the first half of 2001 reporting period include the Union Pacific
Railroad. Routt County Road No. 33 and Foidel Creek. The Wolcott Tap-Wolcott
(PSC), Western Area Power Administration and Hayden-Gore Pass power lines and
Middle Creek were not undermined durine the first half of 2001.
Visual inspections of the Union Pacific Railroad. Routt Counn~ Road No. 33 and Foidel
Creek +vere conducted from January 29, 2001 t}trough July 6. 2001.
Daily surveys and observations of the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) were performed
from April 30, 2001 through July 6. 2001. A follow-up report on the survey data and
observations was submitted to various personnel from the UPRR on a daily basis. An
initial re-leveling/raising of the rail line was suggested to the UPRR on May 15, 2001.
To assist in the re-leveling process. Twentymile supplied railroad tamping and ballast
regulator equipment for railroad personnel use. Partial re-leveling of the rail line to
acceptable differential gradients by UPRR personnel was started on May 15, 2001 and
continued on a day-to-day basis through .lune 22. 200]. As of.lune 22, 200]. the rail line
has been re-leveled and raised to the post mining target elevation. A follow-up survey is
scheduled for mid August 2001. A final report will be submitted to the UPRR
subsequent to the survey.
2001_IsiHal(SubRepon.doc Paee 1 oft 07/31/01
