' ROCKY FLATS SOIL PLUTONiUM79'zao SURVEYS FROM 1970 TO 1991
n
~I
All results for Sector 2 show higher plutonium739.zwva1ues than other sectors. Clearly
' Sector 2 data is significantly different from every other sector. The entire record for
Sector 2 is above the state standard of 0.09 pCi/gram of plutonium. Sector 1 data has a
maximum value for 1970 within the range of Sector 2, but at the very low end. Sector
is the only other sector with soil plutonium""Z'0 levels to be measured in excess of the
state standard. The mean value for sector 1 is above the standard, the median and
geometric mean are significantly below the standard. The overall results for Sector 1
based on visual analysis of the entire data set are borderline with respect to the state
standard.
The means for Sectors 1 and 2 are significantly higher than the median. For the purposes
o1'this presentation, use of the median value as a measure of central tendency is desirable
over use of the mean for comparative purposes. Little difference is noted for the mean,
' geometric mean and median for all other sectors, 3 through 13.
' Graph 2a is the same graph as 2 but the y-axis is adjusted in order to better show subtle
differena:s in the results for Sectors 3 through 13.

1

'
10
1 c., .::............. ...:.:.:..:.:...:..:...................:..:.....:............:..........:..:..:....:.......:..:...........::......:.....:.:..:..:.::.:::.:.....................:..:........:.......:::..::....:....:.
