Peak male attendance at Annan's 1 has been more variable over the years, and has
. exhibited peaks in1997 and 2003, when 19 and 20 males were observed respectively. Male

attendance at Annan's 3 generally increased from 1995 to a maximum of 29 grouse in 1999, then
decreased substantially each year unti12002 and 2003 when no birds were observed (Table 1).
The exact reason for the decline in attendance at this lek is unknown.

One male blue grouse (Dendragapus obscurus) was observed on a small berm in
mountain brush habitat in NW'/a S W %4 Section 8, TSN, R87W on 2 May 2003. Though this
species undoubtedly inhabits the Yoast Mine area, this was the first sighting of a blue grouse in
the area by TWC personnel.
