Introduction
1990 ANNUAL MINE INFLOW REPORT
1 In compliance with Stipulation No.29, Permit No. C-81-038,
_ Cyprus Orchard Valley Coal Company submits the following Annual
' Mine Inflow Report for the period of July 1, 1989 through June 30,
1990.
Mining Locations and Projections
I Pillar retreat mining of Panel G was completed in July, 1989.
Entry development of Panel H occurred from August, 1989 through
April, 1990. Pillar retreat mining of Panel H was initiated in
May, 1990 and continued through June, 1990.
Mining projections for the period of July, 1990 through June
I 1991 include the completion of mining in Panel H, advance and
retreat mining in Panels A and A+, and the further development of
_ the II West Submains to the west of East Roatcap Creek (see Permit
Term and Long Term Mine Planning Map No. 2-5).
Mine Inflow
_ The mine inflow study at the Orchard Valley West Mine was
' completed during July, 1990. Advance mining in Panel H was
underway during this time. No measurable inflows were noted during
the mine inflow study inspection. Five locations exhibited minor
seepage from both roof and floor sources, while four locations were
mapped as having accumulated water in sumps.
I The primary source of inflow noted in the 1989 Annual Mine
Inflow Report was the raise-bored ventilation shaft at crosscut q10
of the South III Submains. This source was noted to exhibit a
I reduced flow rate during the 1990 inflow study as anticipated
following the grouting of the shaft.
I The remaining inflows at the orchard Valley west Mine
continue to consist of seepage from both the roof and the floor
with floor seeps predominating. Seeps continue to last
1 approximately one to four weeks after exposing entries with the
1 continuous miner. To date, most of the seeps encountered in the
mining process fail to produce measurable flows for any significant
period of time.
No water was discharged from the mine to the surface during
1 the '89 - '90 reporting period. Cyprus Orchard Valley again has no
plans to discharge water from within the mine to the surface during
the '90 - '91 reporting period. No water has been discharged from
l the mine to date. The northern end of the South III Submain
1 remains available to hold excess water which may be encountered
