The West Elk <br />Mine is an underground mine. During 2003, the Lone Pine Fan High-VoltageSubstation and <br />azeas associated with the Methane DrainageWell (MDW) Project were permanently reclaimed. <br />During calendar yeaz 2003, MCC completed approximately 2.0 acres of permanent reclamation <br />at the Lone Pine Substation. Approximately 8.23 acres were permanently reclaimed in the MDW <br />Project Area including the pads and road associated with MDW Nos. 14-O1, 14-02, and 15-04A; <br />15-01, 15-OlA; 15-02; 15-03 (excepting the road); 14-09 (96-27-1 and SOM-123), 15-09, 15-08, <br />and the road back to pad (MDW No. 15-07). <br />Minor Revision No. 300, addressed the plugging, abandonment, of the MDWs and final <br />reclamation of pads and roads completed in 2003, on United States Forest Service (USFS) lands. <br />For compazison, MCC completed approximately 4.5 acres of permanent reclamation in the <br />MDW Project Area calendar yeaz 2002. <br />Please call me if you have any questions. <br />Sinc ly, <br />Q <br />enry azbe <br />Environmental Engineer <br />cc: Phil Schmidt <br />Availability of Records <br />03arr.doc <br />
