Re: 1988 Annual Hydrology Report
Dear Matthe.~:
The follaving is the Annual Hydrology Report for 1988 for the Bear
Number Three Mine.
In 1988, there were four c~lete alluvial well field tests taken at the
Bear Number Three Minesite. These tests were taken on the following dates:
March 31, 1988; May 10, 1988; September 14, 1988; and December 13, 1988. The
May 10, 1988 field test was taken in the presence of Cathy Begej and Tim King
with CMC32D. Copies of the results of these tests are enclosed for your
information.
In addition to the field tests, bottle sales were taken from both
wells on December 13, 1988. These samples were sulinitted to ACZ, Inc.,
Commercial Lab Division for analysis. Copies of the results of these analy-
ses are enclosed with this report.
On July 13, 1987, we received a letter fran CNff,RD dated July 8, 1987.
In this letter, Bear was instructed to "investigate the integrity and
viability of well AA-1". In order to conply with this request we took tco
bottle samples from each well and suUnitted them to ACZ, Inc., for analysis;
and requested their reca;n~endations concerning well AA-1. On March 8, 1988,
ACZ reco;miended that we obtain a different well bailing mechanism and modify
our sampling procedures so that the results of our sampling would more ac-
curately reflect the quality of the water in the alluvium.
This was done, and the May 10, 1988 sampling was the first in which we
utilized our new equigrent and procedures. As can be seen fran the results
of this sample and ones taken subsequent to it, our efforts have been
successful in that the conductivity levels in the samples taken from AA-1
have stabilized. Based upon this information, we do not believe that it will
be necessary to replace this well.
