• Spring S-31 has been developed with subsurface collectors to more
efficiently tap the shallow ground water in the colluvial and slope
wash deposits located adjacent to Long Draw. The water quality of
the spring is similar to colluvial wells SM-5 and SM-6 in the East
Roatcap Drainage and wells SM-3 and SM-9 in the Stevens Gulch
Drainage.
Discharge measured in 1991 at Station SW-6 on East Roatcap Creek
was very low. Flows of 0.55 cfs and 0.0001 cfs were measured on
June 3 and June 29, respectively. The stream at the gaging station
was dry at other times.
Flow was measured at Station SW-11 on Main Roatcap Creek only on
May 31, 1991. Flows at this station show not only the typical
seasonal fluctuations but also the impacts of irrigation and water
supply diversions. Monitoring at this station appears to have
little utility or relevance to mine impact monitoring and the need
for continuing to monitor should be evaluated. Similarly, station
SW-9 measures diversion from Overland ditch into West Roatcap Creek
while station SW-12 measures flow in the Roberts-Strucker Ditch.
Flows at these stations also show typical seasonal fluctuations and
are largely controlled by diversions and head gate operation.
Monitoring at these stations also have little utility or relevance
to mine impact monitoring and their continued monitoring should be
reconsidered.

10
