O'Connor
Mined Land Reclamation Division
423 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203
Re: Supplementary Information to 1984 Annual Report, Fenderson
Mine
Dear Mr. O'Connor:
We are in receipt of your request for clarification of some
items in the 1984 Henderson Mine Annual Report and will attempt to
respond to the various aspects in question.
I. Proposed Reclamation Cost
A. Specific Concerns
Question 1: Page 2 of your discussion references reclamation
activities completed or proposed to be comF~leted in
the very near future for Area No. 12. In particular,
there is a reference made to seeding being done in
July. A review of the proposed reclamation costs for
this area reveals costs for only fertilizer applica-
tion. The MLRB has historically only releae;ed seed-
ing costs once the vegetation has expressed itself.
Since the area will not be planted until July, it
will be necessary to include costs for seeding.
Answer: The Annual Report discusses activities which took
place in 1984, and presents estimated <;osts of
reclaiming disturbances projected two years into the
future. Area 12 was seeded last July. The cost
estimate includes the cost of mTtenance fertilizer
only, because that is the only activity that: will be
necessary.
Question 2: Page 3, Area 2 reference "Secure shaft opening" with
reclamation cost of $50,000.00. Please give more
detailed documentation on how this value was derived.
7707 Cole Boulevard • Golden, Colorado 80407 • 3031234-9020 • TWX: g70-93 7 074 6
