The existing condition is
fundamentally the same as it was when the 2001 annual report was submitted.
Annual Report Maps: A map is provided that shows the current condition of the site. This map is
fundamentally the same as last year's map.
Affected Lands: The amount of affected land, as shown on the map, continued at 35.25 acres.
Revegetation: The site is stable and is not subject to erosion off site. What little erosion occurs on site
is periodically controlled and corrected to keep the site in good condition. Significant amounts of
wetland vegetation has developed in areas that are completed with mining. These wetlands are presently
non-jurisdictional and are not waters of the U.S. due to the continued existence of the permit and bond.
Expected Activity (2002 - 2003: None or very limited. More significant weed control, particularly of
knapweed, maybe done later this year if growing conditions improve. Under current drought
conditions even the weeds are doing poorly.
Bonding: This operation is covered by a self bond. The most recent Division Balance Sheet is included.
Schmidt Construction 2002 Annual Report M-1983-035 Vollmer Pit Page 1 of 1
