The coals being mined are the Red <br />Arrow and Dirty Jack O'Lantern seams. This report was prepared to address <br />water rights issues and alternative sources of water pursuant to Rule <br />2.04.7(3) of the Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation <br />Board. It presents a description of the water requirements. consumptive <br />use and the relationship of the use of water at the Southfield Hine to the <br />stream system. <br />To complete this report, data available from the files of Energy Fuels <br />Coal. Inc. were collected and reviewed, the mine site and surrounding <br />areas were visited. records of ditches diverting from nearby streams were <br />collected and analyzed. and previous permitting documents completed by <br />Dorchester Coal Company and Energy Fuels Coal, Inc. were examined and <br />utilized where possible. Energy Fuels Coal. Inc. purchased the Southfield <br />Mine from Dorchester Coal Company in March. 1985, and data collected by <br />Dorchester have been incorporated into this investigation. <br />Historic Conditions <br />Ground water intercepted by the Southfield Mine. either mine inflow pumped <br />by the North Entry Well or underground pumps. or water pumped from the <br />Corley well. is tributary to the surface stream system. Prior to mining <br />operations. ground water in the Red Arrow and Dirty Jack O'Lantern coals <br />discharged to the Newlin and Hardscrabble Creek basins as base flow. The <br />amount of ground water discharge to the basin, however. was very small <br />- 1 - <br />
