t
WAT6e BBQSIYffiRIS Alm COIISm~'lIYE IISS
Figure B ie a schematic diagram illustrating water use and flow at the
mine and associated facilities; including sources of water, water use.
discharges and consumptive uses. Complete meter records of the water
meters shown on the diagram are available for almost all of 1985. The
records have been amended to reflect a full calendar year for 1985 and
those numbers have been used in the analys
i
~
~f water use at the mine.
y~~',~
~,','
"~C
g~
The Southfield Mine ie entitled to 60
llons per minute from the Corley
Mine Well. which tape water in the old Corley Mine (Rex Carbon seam).

This is a decreed water right with uses listed as other- in Caae No. L"
W-642. The Rules and Regulations for Division 2 ordered by the State
~
Engineer's Office would allow the Corley Mine Well to pump three days out ~

of seven per week. This schedule would allow an annual diversion of 41.4
acre-feet. The Corley Well was used when the mine was first started. As
mining progressed and more water wsa produced by the mine, necessitating
mine dewatering by the North Entry Well and other sumps, the mine has had
to rely less on the Corley Mine Well for fulfilling water requirements.
Southfield Mine dewatering ie currently being accomplished by underground
pampa and the North Entry Well. The North Entry Well pampa mine inflow to
the first fresh water pond (see Figure 8). Corley Well water also can be
pumped to the first fresh water pond. Water from this pond is distributed
via the second fresh water pond to all phases of the mining operation ae
needed. During the past few years. the Corley Well has not been used as a
water source because ae a practical matter, enough water for all uses has
been available from the North Enr*v wP~l and underground pampa. Recently,
Energy Fuels Coal. Inc. has re-activated the Corley Mine Well for
consumptive use water only and is discharging North Entry Well water to
the stream system. Because the North Entry Well is not adjudicated for
mine use. plane are to continue using the Corley Mine Well for mine use
for dewatering and
supplementary water use purposes.
- 15 -
