Hydmlapy Aepore * CO Permit No. C-80-006 I Page 2 <br />' 2.0 MONITORING AND ANALYSES <br />' Water monitoring activities during the 2003 water year (Oct. 2002 through Sept. 2003) were generally <br />based on the revised hydrologic monitoring schedule as approved in Technical Revision No. 19 ('I'R- <br />19), Table 61 (revised August 1999). TR-19 included a proposal to reduce monitoring activities. In <br />response, letters dated January 20, 1999 and October 1, 1999, the State of Colorado Division of <br />' Minerals and Geology (DMG) accepted the following modifications to the existing monitoring <br />schedule: <br />Surface water sites 300, 306, 314, 316, 317, 318, 322, and 327, and ground water sites AP-3 <br />and AP-4 at the loadout, have been dropped from monitoring. Monitoring of the ground <br />water wells in the Sudduth Coal Seam (79-61) and the overburden (79-], 79-2, and 79-3) is <br />not required until the last two years preceding final bond release. <br />All field data and sample collection for the 2003 water year was conducted under the direction of <br />James Mossman of Kerr Coal Company. All sample analyses were performed by ACZ Laboratories, <br />Inc. of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. <br />This report discusses the groundwater and surface water monitoring activities and summarizes the <br />data collected during the 2003 water year in the following sections: <br />• Section 3 -Mine Area Groundwater (lY/ater-Table) <br />• Section 4 -Mine Area Alluvial Groundwater <br />• Section 5 - LoadoutArea Alluvial Groundwater <br />• Section 6 -Mine Area Surface Water <br />• Section 7 - LaadautArea Surface IP/ater <br />• Section 8 - Welllnrpection <br />• Section 9 -Future Monitoring <br />Field and laboratory data aze included in Appendices A through C.
