Marsh 2004 Kerr Coa! Company * 2003 Annaal Hydrology Report * CO Permit No. C-80-006 1 Page 7
4,0 MINE AREA ALLUVIAL GROUNDWATER
Field measurements were taken at alluvial well AO-2A on a monthly basis from Mazch through
October. Field data are presented in Appendix A, 2003 Field Data. Water samples were collected
and analyzed twice during 2003, in July, and October. As of January 1999, the pazameter list for
alluvial well sample analysis was reduced to include only major elements and no trace metals, The
individual analyses of samples collected aze presented in Appendix B, 2003 Mine Area Alluvial Water
Quality Analyses. Table 1, 2003 Groundwater~uality Statiatirr, includes a summary of the water quality
data for well AO-2A for the 2003 water yeaz. The mean field and laboratory pazameter values for
each of the past seven years are presented in Table 3, Hirtarit Mine Area Alluvial Water Quality Data.
The water levels recorded for AO-2A over the last seven years are shown on Figure 1, Mrne Area
Groundwater LeveLt. Figure 2, EC vs. TDS-Well AO-ZA, shows the relationship between electrical
conductance and total dissolved solids levels over the last seven years.
Well AO-ZA is located in Bush Draw, downstream (east) of the northern extent of the reclaimed Pit 1
area. In 1992, low water levels and the sflted condition of well AO-2 resulted in the inability to collect
samples from this location. Well AO-2A was comple[ed to a depth of 14 feet in January 1993 and
was placed adjacent to well AO-2, replacing the existing well. See Map 1, Mine Area Monitoring Statianr,
for general well location.
' MWH * 1475 Pine Gmm Rd, Ste. 709, * Steamboat Springs, Colorado 80477 * (970) 879-6260
LL':\li'TM' nIMASTAnaW Hobe WpniV(4)\1W) H,dLLy Wyn
r,rs/w.mm
