Mine Inflow Monitorin
1. Field parameters reveal variable water quality from
inflows in the gateroads of the Eastern Mining District.
Conductivities range from 1018 umhos/cm at point 16 along
the fault to 9340 umhos/cm at point 15 some 1200 feet
away. What would account for this variability of
conductivity? What is the source of the inflow along the
fault located in lOR and 9R gateroads?
NPDES Monitoring
NPDES monitoring through the Colorado Department of
Public Health and the Environment indicates periodic
problems in meeting iron effluent limitations at site 115
and occasional difficulties passing the Whole Effluent
Toxicity Testing that is required at various outfalls.
This is an on-going issue and DMG stays informed through
the operator and CDPHE. These effluent problems do not
appear to have an impact on the hydrologic balance
outside the permit area at the present time.
Please respond as appropriate to each item, correcting and
submitting information as necessary. Due to the field season
coming to a close in the next 60 days, the Division requests your
responses within 30 days of receipt of this letter.
Since ely,
~~~~~~~
Kent A.
