ORCHARD VALLEY MINE
NEW WEST RIDQE PILE
ITEM Y/N
7. Top of completed fill has adequate Y Top of gob has been sloped with no
drainage. soil cover.
8. Bench drainage adequate? N Small extent of erosion on face,
repair as required, erosion problem
not significant. Reinstall bench
drainage to minimize flow over face
of pile.
9. Areas covered with 4' non-toxic N Covering with 4' non-toxic non-
non-combustible material? combustible material is 3/4 complete.
The placement of this material has
been temporarily halted due to
inadequate compaction in waste
material. (See No. 11 below).
10. Berms constructed on outslopes? N Type of construction has deleted the
use of berms.
11. Evidence of structural defects? Y Construction is approximately 3/4
complete, soil placement on outslope
has been temporarily halted due to
drilling of pile to check the top 30' of
pile for compaction. Results showed
that some areas of pile did not meet
the minimum requirements. This
necessitates removal of portions of
the upper part of the pile.
12. Topsoil adequately salvaged & Y
stored.
13. Trash being removed? Not applicable
14. Additional comments? N
During the 3rd quarter, 1990, there was no active construction of the West Ridge Gob Pile.
Rather the pile was subject to repair activities which included removal of gob material that
was not adequately compacted. Refer to Lambert & Associate reports.
I certify the above report as being accurate to the best of my belief and knowledge.
it~Z6~4o
Da e
