1995 Annual Hydrologic Report
Page 3
prepazed33 to give a statistical analysis of information taken at this site since 1979.
Diagram S95-1 is a graph relating TDS to time and incorporating a Lowess Smooth Plot.
This plot was prepazed using a "nearness" factor of 0.5. All dischazges from this site were
within the permit limits.
Discharge point 002 is water siphoned from our former NW Intake Portal of the
Roadside South Portals. Mine inflows that are not used underground or pumped to the
preparation plant are routed to an abandoned portion of the mine for dischazge from this
point. Flow information for this site is discussed in the Mine Water section of this
report. Data pages SE-4 and 5 include a listing of water quality monitoring performed
at this site during the Year. Data page SO-3 includes a full suite analysis performed on
samples collected during 1994 and 1995 (As with Outfall 001, input errors for the 1994
information have been corrected). The TDS dropped again this Year by about 10%.
This trend is expected to stabilize at some TDS level between 1000 and 1500 MG/L.
Table 595-3 is a statistical summary of sampling since 1979. Diagram S95-2 was
prepared to show a I.owess Smooth Plot (nearness = 0.5) through the TDS information.
The source of water for this discharge point has varied over time, therefore information
• prior to December 1992 may not be representative of future trends. All dischazges
during this Year were within the permit limits.
Discharge point 003 was utilized for discharging water pumped out of the old Cameo
Mine and has not been used since 1979. There is no new information for this site this
Year.
Discharge point 004 continued to be used all year to discharge from the Roadside North
Portal. Flow information is given in the Mine Water section of this report. A listing of
weeldy monitoring results is given on data pages SF-13 and 14 and result of the annual
full suite analysis is presented on data page SP-3 (As with Outfa11001, input errors for
the 1994 information have been corrected). Table S95-4 is a statistical summary of
water quality data collected since 1979. Diagram 595-3 show a Lowess Smooth Plot
(nearness = 0.5) through historic TDS data on this site. The wide variation in TDS is
a function of the source of the water at the time of discharge. The primary sources are
the portal ramp underdrain represented by location 1 for the Roadside North Portal in
the Mine Water section, active area mine inflows and sealed area inflows at location 8.
One discharge permit violation occurred on June 30, 1995, resulting in DMG NOV C-
95-021. A sump overflowed due to a pump problem, resulting in suspended solids being
picked up as it overflowed. Changes were made in the mine pumping system to
• minimize the potential of the same problem in the future
