The existing condition is
fundamentally the same as it was when the 2000 annual report was submitted.
Annual Report Maps: A map is provided that shows the current condition of the site.
Affected Lands: The amount of affected land, as shown on the map, is 35.25 acres.
Revegetation: The site is stable and is not subject to erosion. Significant amounts of wetland
vegetation has developed in areas that are completed with mining. These wetlands are presently non-
jurisdictional and are not waters of the U.S. due to the continued existence of the permit and bond.
Weed control was implemented in non-wetland areas during the last year, but the success of the control
efforts have not yet been assessed.
Expected Activity (2001 - 2002): None or very limited
Temporary Cessation: On October 27, 2000, a request for temporary cessation was submitted to the
Division and granted approval. This temporary cessation remains in effect. Prior to any significant
amount of work beginning, the Division will be notified.
Bonding: This operation is covered by a self bond. Due to a problem discovered in the bonding
arrangements for Schmidt, this bond is currently under review for re-establishment of a self-bonding
arrangement. The required information will be provided with that bonding system change and
correction. For further information, Suzi Ericksen at the Division should be contacted.
Schmidt Construction 2001 Annual Report M-1983-035 Vollmer Pit Page 1 of 1
