The two surface <br />water sites, UHG-1 and LHG-],aze to be monitored as specified in Section 2.05.6 of the permit <br />application (modified by TR-56). The operator has committed to monitoring the six spoils <br />springs RSP-1 through RSP-6 as described in Section 4.05.13 of TR-63. Dischazge limitations <br />for the two remaining sediment ponds HG-8 and 003 aze also set forth in Section 4.05.13 of TR- <br />63. The three ground water monitoring wells, HG-1 and HG-2, and UC-2 are to be monitored as <br />specified in Section 2.05.6(3)(b)(iii), Volume 1B of the permit application. <br />The report fulfills for 1996 the annual hydrology reporting requirements of Rule 4.05.13(4)(c) <br />and the permit, with the following two exceptions. <br />Water levels in well UC-2 were not reported as required in Section 2.05.6(3)(b)(iii), <br />Volume 1B of the permit application (this is the only measurement required in this well). <br />Please explain the reason for not reporting the water level in UC-2. <br />2. The operator reported in a letter to the DMG dated February 27, 1997 that "problems with <br />instruments' prevented the field measurement of the dissolved oxygen and turbidity in <br />
