Of course, continued monitoring will <br />be necessary. <br />The area of most concern to all of us was to the west <br />where precariously perched boulders may be a threat to <br />the county road and its users. As part of the mitigation <br />to make a safe roadway, this summer you are planning to <br />construct a detour road below the existing county road. <br />This detour will be placed on an old existing roadbed <br />that appears to be quite stable. In accordance with my <br />requests, you will construct a 24 foot wide road and <br />surface it with at least 4 inches of crushed roadbase. <br />This detour may be in existence for as long as two years, <br />or until all involved parties are satisfied that the rock <br />outcropping has been stabilized. <br />The maintenance of this roadway will be done by <br />Twentymile Coal Company and coordinated with the Routt <br />County Road and Bridge Department. <br />In addition to this detour, you will develop some type of <br />rock containing fence and/or energy dissipator which will <br />be placed above the existing county road. <br />
