<br />' 2.0 SUMMARY OF HYDROLOGY MONITORING DATA <br />' The Deserado Mine hydrology monitoring program was initiated during the first quarter of 1981 and <br />succeeds the baseline hydrologic monitoring and inventory program that was initiated in 1978. The <br />purpose of this section of this report is to: <br />• Describe the Deserado Mine hydrology monitoring program <br />' • Summarize the hydrology monitoring data collected from October 1, 1993 to <br />September 30, 1994 <br />' • Compare the hydrology data collected during this reporting period with the <br />data from the baseline hydrology inventory <br />2.1 Description of the Deserado Mlne Hydrologic Monltoring Program <br />An ongoing hydrologic monitoring program for the Deserado Mine was initiated during the first <br />' quarter of 1981. This program was designed based on the results of the hydrologic baseline studies <br />which were initiated in 1978. The program was implemented to fulfill the regulatory requirements <br />' under the Federal Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act (SMCRA) and the Colorado Surface <br />Coal Mining Reclamation Act. <br />' 2.1.1 Surface Water Monltoring Program <br />' The original surface water monitoring program consisted of monitoring surface water at the following <br />nine (9) stations: <br />' SW1-1 SW31-1 <br />SW11-1 SW33-1 <br />SW12-1 SW23-1 <br />SW11-2 SW24-1 <br />SW6-1 <br />The location of each of these stations is shown on Plate 1 in the pocket of this report. Stations <br />SWi-1, SW11-1, SW31-1, SW23-1, and SW24-1 are crest stage gages with single stage <br />samplers and are designed to measure the crest of flow events and collect samples as the result <br />of those events. Stations SW6-1 and SW33-f are the locations of stock watering ponds where grab <br />' samples are to be collected. SW12-1 and SW11-2 are stations where grab samples from the White <br />River were collected. At stations SW8-1, SW33-1, SW12-1 and SW11-2 only water samples are <br />collected for analysis. Crest gage and water sample station SW23-1 is to be monitored only if there <br />' is discharge from the sediment pond (RP-1) located below the refuse disposal area.
