NORTHWEST COLORADO CONSULTANTS, INC. <br />Project: Waste Coal Pile Project No.: 95-2296 <br />Location: Foidel Creek Mine ReQort No.: 13 <br />Client: Bower Brothers Construction <br />Work Performed: <br />Date: 5/10/96 <br />Time: 3.0 <br />Mileage: 48 <br />Engr./Tech: JK <br />As requested, we visited the project site on this date and conducted nuclear density test No.'s 48 through 51 on <br />the material placed. <br />The excavation contractor, Bower Brothers Construction, backfilled processed waste coal in the borrow trench <br />along the Northwest side of the pile. We also requested the contractor excavate down 4' in the Northeast corner <br />of the waste pile to conduct density tests in the previous lift. <br />We also obtained moisture samples from all areas tested, to be returned to our laboratory. Sample No. 4 of minus <br />4" np rap sands and gravels was obtained and returned to our laboratory for gradation analysis testing. <br />Remarks: <br />The material tested generally met project specifications with moisture contents being 2.6% to 2.9% above <br />optimum. One failing test was recorded: test No. 51. The contractor was advised to scarify the area of test No. 51 <br />to allow drying of the material as it appeared excessively moist, then add compactive effort. <br />Please refer to the attached sheet for results of today's testing. <br />Verbal Discussions: <br />Bud Bower of Bower Brothers Construction was notified of today's test results. <br />
