Non-compliance Information Regarding
Discharge Point 002-A (Warehouse Pond)
The average value for Total Suspended Solids (TSS) for point
002-A during the second quarter was 37 mg/1. The cause of the non-
compliance was due to an algae bloom brought about by the onset of
unusually warm spring weather. The phenomenon represents a natural
occurrence which does endanger health or the environment. The
algae bloom is expected to run its course until fall at which time
cooler water temperatures will reduce algae activity.
Incidently, a Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division (CMLRD)
inspection on June 16, 1992, also noted the algae bloom in this
particular pond. Since discharge from this pond generally occurs
only in the spring and very seldom during the drier months,
recurrence of a non-complying discharge is not expected.
