of Wells YSRL10, YW14 and YW15 were discontinued. Also, monitoring of
surface water site YSSF2 (012 baseline( was discontinued.
I
Rftei their review of last year's Yoast AHR, the CDMG made several
comments in a letter dated Av gust 19, 2001. Following is SCC's response
to those commnents.
Item 1: The CDMG commented on the surface water standards used in the
AHR. The CDOH Reg. No. 33 standards recommended by the CDMG include the
use ~of 'Table Value Standards' (TVS). These TVS's require complex
mathematical equations to calculate. Due to other projects undertaken
by the mine hydrologist this year, SCC will be unable to comply with the
CDMG's request this year. Hopefully, SCC will be able to take the time
required to computerize these TVS's for the 2002 RHR. For this AHR, SCC
will continue to use the CDOH Reg. No. 31 agricultural standards.
Item 2: The CDMG commented on SCC's ground water quality discussion.
No response is required.
Meteorological Data
No meteorological data is collected at the Yoast Mine. SCC maintains a
weather station (wind speed and direction, temperature and
precipitation) at its adjacent Seneca IT-W Mine. The reader is referred
to that AHR, Appendix B. SCC also maintains a precipitation gage at its
adjacent Seneca II Mine. Data for this year are included on Table 1. A
summary of all data collected at that station is provided here in Table
2. i
Data from the National Climatic Data Center's Hayden Station is used
here to evaluate the precipitation trend. For this year, 14.66 inches
of 'precipitation was measured, which was 2.18 inches (138) less than the
1961-1990 average. Only November, February, July and August were above
average. Snowpack runoff, as estimated by totaling November through
April precipitation values, was 8.40 inches, which was 0.01 inches
(0,'.14;) below the 1961-1990 average.
~ 2
