C crp~us
"r'; Empire Corporation
July 19, 1991
Mr. Carl Mount
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division
215 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203
RE: Adequacy Response TR-19, Permit C-81-044
Dear Mr. Mount:
P.D: Box 66 III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII:
Craig, Colorado 81620 999
303.824-8246
Cyprus Empire Corporation has already provided subsidence
monitoring data that verify the stability of the mains and submains
being used in the ~'6 Mine. The configuration is the same as used
in the $5 Mine which extended under all of the Structures and
Renewable Resource lands of concern (see Map 23 of Permit C-81-
044). Furthermore, several of the proposed monuments are outside
the 5 year permit term. Therefore, we feel the proposed monitoring
is excessive. However, as per discussions between Rick Mills and
Jim Pendleton, CEC will install 3 subsidence monuments adjacent to
Colorado Highway 13 and the Williams Fork River and above the
mains. These monuments are for future reference and will be
surveyed in and their locations and elevations reported once in our
subsidence monitoring report. Monitoring will only be done and
additional monuments installed if needed for future mine planning
and design.
Please contact me if there are questions.
Sinlc~e~r~e~lQy~ L
Terrell K.
