Their normal practice is to move into the pit once
a year and process a supply of material that is removed as
needed. Once the crushing is complete they move on to
another pit. Gravel mining continued in Stage I & II ahead
of the clay operation, basically over the clay beds. This is
done in accordance with the approved plan. This is done so
the sand and gravel is handled only once. The current gravel
operation has 7.70 acres ± in Stages i & II disturbed (yel-
low). The material storage area, 1.27 acres ± along the west
side (blue) is used each year by the County. The processing
plant returned to the site in Mid-November, 1990 and operated
until April, 1991. They moved in again in Mid-October, 1991
but lease problems have kept them from mining any additional
material to date.
(2) No reclamation was required this year.
(3) Clay - Mining will continue is Stage I. We will mine deeper
into the clay veins exposed in the past. We will also
advance the face to the north as more of the clay vein is
exposed by the gravel operation.
Gravel - Mining/stripping will continue to the north of the
clay operation. The sand and gravel operator has disturb
most of the area in Stage II above the clay vein and will
concentrate on mining to the top of the clay vein. Should
the sand and gravel be depleted on top of the clay vein this
year the mining will commence in Stage A as approved.
(4) No reclamation is called for during the next year.
(5) CURRENT CONTACT /
James R.
