INTERNATIONAL URANIUM (USA) CORPORATION
2002 ANNUAL REPORT
Sundav Mine - M-1977-285
The Sunday Mine was inspected by the Division of Minerals & Geology on December 18, 2001.
At a number of neazby mine sites, held under permits by International Uranium (USA) Corporation, waste
oil barrels were noticed by the Inspector. Corrective Actions were stipulated by the Inspector to either
remove the waste oil bazrels or to implement proper hydrocazbon storage practices. Although waste oil
barrels were not specifically noted in the Inspection Report for the Sunday Mine, a number of barrels of
waste oil were removed at the same time as the Corrective Action was undertaken at the neazby mines.
The oil barrels were removed from the Sunday Mine site on January 16, 2002. The barrels, along with
waste oil barrels from other nearby mines sites, were transported [o the White Mesa Mill, neaz Blanding,
Utah. The barrels will be dumped into the Mill's waste oil storage tank, which is periodically emptied by
a commercial waste oil recycling firm.
Attached aze a photograph of the waste oil barrels before taking action and a photograph of the
site after removal of the barrels.
Another item noted in the December 18, 2001 inspection was the lack of current permittee
identification sign at the Sunday Mine. Art identification sign has been placed at the entrance to the mine
site; a photograph of the new identification sign is attached.
The December 18, 2001 Inspection Report also noted other items (site maps and permit boundary
markers). These items will be addressed in separate correspondence in conjunction with responses to
similar items noted for other mines, under permits held by International Uranium (USA) Corporation,
adjacent to and near the Sunday Mine.
A follow-up inspection was conducted March 15, 2002. This inspection was conducted to
document all the surface features and installations which make up the permitted operation. One vent shaft
_ site was inspected which had not been visited during the December 18, 2001 inspection. This site is to be
included in updated site maps showing affected areas and Boundaries: ' - -
During the reporting period, no disturbance activities were conducted at the Sunday Mine, and no
reclamation was conducted. The Sunday Mine will remain on standby status during 2002.
