Bi-Weekly Water Sample Report - March 4-5, 1993
Dear Mr. Oehler:
Enclosed are the analytical reports from Core Laboratories
for the bi-weekly water samples collected on March 4-5, 1993
as specified in the April 1992 Abatement Plan. The final
analytical reports from Core laboratories were received at
the San Luis Mine on May 17, 1993.
This sampling event coincided with the second site visit of~
the independent third party sampler, Dr. Ann Maest of
VVRCG/Hagler, Bailly, Inc. As part of the third party
sampling, filtered and unfiltered samples for the analysis
of cyanide (total and wad), metals, and nitrate/nitrite were
collected from the three ponds. The additional analytical
reports are included with the routine bi-weekly reports.
The cross-reference table between sample identification
numbers and sample locations is attached. As specified in
TR-006, calculated free and wad cyanide values for the
process point samples are enclosed. The calculations are
based on dissolved metals results.
No deviations from the sampling QA/QC protocols, TR-006,
were noted for any of the samples collected. However, it
should be noted that approximately eight inches of ice was
chipped from the surface of the RS-5 sampling location
before flowing water was reached. The sediments in the
stream bed were disturbed during ice removal. The stream
bed was given time (approximately 2 hours) to settle,

The groundwater sampling pump was not operating properly.
The internal housing for the motor shaft was cracked causing
the shaft rotation to be restricted and the pump motor to
overheat. Therefore, the groundwater wells were not
sampled during this bi-weekly. The pump was sent to a
representative of the manufacturer for repair and was
