LIABILITY COMPANY <br />1995 PROJECT STATUS AND ANNUAL PLAN OF DEVELOPMENT <br />1.0 INTRODUCTION AND PROJECT SUMMARY GIN `\\`` <br />This report summarizes 1995 process operations, shipment of product, reclamation status, <br />geotechnical and environmental monitoring results. Proposed operations for 1996 will be <br />described in this report, as well as status of all surtace facilities and project wells. <br />Significanttechnicalconsiderations andJorproposedchanges inoperations are presented. <br />• On July 1, 1971, the four sodium preference right leases were issued. During 1980-1982 <br />exploration, well drilling and environmental monitoring were conducted on the leased <br />lands. A bulk sampling operation was in operation from late 1983 to early 1984. The <br />BLM evaluated a 125,000-TPY commercial-scale nahcolite mine in late 1986 and the <br />Environmental Impact Statement was approved in November of 1987. In 1988 an <br />Underground Injection Control (UIC) permit was obtained from the EPA. Early in 1990, <br />NaTec Minerals, Inc. submitted construction plans fora 125,000-TPY facility to the BLM <br />and initiated site development. Construction of plant facilities started in May of 1990 and <br />was completed February of 1991. In January, 1991 the revised Mine Plan was submitted, <br />and approved by the BLM.
