• Introduction
According to Stipulation No. 29, Permit No. C-81-038, the operator submits the following
Annual Mine Inflow Report for the period of July 1 1996 through June 30, 1997.
Mining Locations and Projections
2'/: Right:
Pane12'/2 Right was advanced approximately 2,460 feet during 1996 with only minimal secondary
mining done. Partial pillar extraction was attempted during retreat mining in this panel until
excessive abutment pressures stopped this practice. Roof seeps and floor seeps were encountered
in the panel. These seeps were similar to previous inflows and only flowed for short durations.
I Panel:
Advancement of this panel began in June of 1996 and extended for a distance of approximately
2,650 feet. No retreat mining was done in I Panel. Roof seeps were similar to previous inflows
and only lasted for short durations.
IV Sooth Sabmains:
Advancement of these entries began during March, 1997 and continued through June, 1997. This
panel has now been abandoned and sealed due to poor coal quality. No retreat mining was
performed in these panel entries. Roof seeps and floor seeps were encountered during the
advancement of these entries. These seeps were similar to previous inflows and only flowed for
• short durations.
III West Sabmains•
Advancement of these entries began in January, 1997 and continued through June, 1997. This
panel is now idled due to poor coal quality. No retreat mining was performed in these panel
entries. Roof seeps and floor seeps were encountered during the advancement of these panel
entries. These seeps were similar to previous inflow and only flowed for short durations.
Retreat Mining of Y Panel and II West Mains:
Retreat mining was performed on the standing pillars of Panel Y and II West Submams during
February and March of 1997. No additional roof seeps or inflows were encountered during the
partial pillar extraction process. These areas aze now sealed and inaccessible.
Mining Projections
Mining operations at Bowie No. 1 Mine have temporarily ceased due to market conditions and
coal quality issues. It is unclear at this time where mining operations would resume m the event
that this coal reserve becomes economically viable.
-1-
