DMG Permit No. M-88-1 12
Quarterly, Monthly and Bi-weekly Sampling
Dear Mr. Dillie:
All required sampling was completed during the month of February. Enclosed are analytical
reports from Accu-Labs and Sangre De Cristo Lab (SDC) for the recent bi-weekly, monthly, and
quarterly sampling periods as specified in the April 1992 Abatement Plan. Also enclosed are the
results of CORE labs ongoing HCT testing. The cross-reference table between sample identification
numbers, sample types and sample locations is also attached. As specified in TR-006, calculated
free and wad cyanide values for the process point samples are enclosed. Analysis that have not
been received will be forwarded to you as I receive them. Field and rinse blanks were collected as
part of the QA/OC.
All surface water stations were inspected and RS-4 and RS-6 were found to be dry.
Vacuum on the lysimeters was verified and no water was present to sample.
When we checked the piezometers on the main embankment of the tailings impoundment on
03/01 /99, the piezometers were dry or contained well below 12 inches of water.
The two new west pit piezometers were measured for depth to water on 02/26/99, with the
following result: BF-twos 12.00 ft and BF-2 was 15.70 ft. The other piezometers in the West Mine area
were also checked with the following result: PW-1 was 14.30 ft, PW-2 was 15.22 ft, PW-3 was 23.45 ft
and PW-4 was 26.35 ft.
The underdrain was measured at approximately 30 GPM.
We were unable to measure flow or collect a sample from the leak detection system in February
because it was frozen.
As requested by the MLRB we drilled an additional well into the Santa Fe formation in February. The
designation of this well is SF-4. One more Santa Fe well will be completed in March. The location of
this well will be between PW-2 and PW-3.
