precharged bottles and submitting them to ACZ Laboratories, Inc. of
Steamboat Springs, Colorado, for analyses.
' Results:
' There was no flow at monitoring points AG-1 "A" Gulch, BG-1
"B" Gulch, CG-1 "C" Gulch, HG-1 Hoopla Gulch or BC-1 Bardine Canyon
during 1992.
The data collected from the surface water monitoring stations
and laboratory results is presented in Appendix 2. Graphs of major
I chemical parameters are also included in this appendix. Quarterly
inspection reports on the sediment control ponds located in the
permit area are included in Appendix 4.
There was no discharge from the Elk Creek or Hubbard Creek
facility areas for the reporting period of 1992.
After evaluating field test and water analysis reports, it is
evident that water quantity and quality fluctuated according to the
seasonal Spring runoff and precipitation. Somerset Mining Company
in conjunction with the Colorado Department of Health (CDH), is
currently reviewing the impact of discharge water from Outfall 011
and until the CDH has completed review of the effluent toxicity
=I data, and a decision for action is made, Somerset Mining is
required to continue normal quarterly acute testing.
,~I
~~ Methods:
GROD'NDWATER MONITORING
Water quality and samples were collected using a hand bailer.
Parameters of temperature, Ph, conductivity and salinity were
determined in the field, and water levels were recorded from the
top of the well casing and reported as elevations. All other
parameters were determined as described in the surface methods
section of this report.
Results:
Results of groundwater data collected during 1992 are
presented in Appendix 3. Graphs of the pertinent water quality
parameters are also shown in this appendix.
