2001 ANNUAL REPORT
NARRATIVE
PERMITTEE NAME: Lawrence Construction Company
PERMITNO.: M-74-041 RECEIVED
OPERATION NAME: Lawrence Pit JAN 2 3 2002
COUNTY: Douglas Division of Minerals and Geology
DATE: January 22, 2002
COMMENTS: In 2001 the Pemuttee applied for and was granted a technical revision for
Permit No. M-74-041. The technical revision incorporated into the permit various activities
involving the importation, storage and processing of reclaimed concrete, reclaimed asphalt and
crushed aggregate. The revision also covered the storage of construction equipment in the
southwestern azea of the permit azea. In conjunction with the technical revision the reclamation
surety bond for the permit was increased to $294,000.00 which the Division of Minerals and
Geology accepted as adequate. On September 24, 2001 the Division of Minerals and Geology
also approved a reduction of the permit azea to approximately 35 acres as shown on the enclosed
permit map.
Active construction aggregate operations were carried on in the permit azea throughout 2001.
These activities involved mining of native materials, accumulation of reclaimed concrete and the
processing of construction aggregates. During 2001 the less than 500 tons of pit run material was
mined from the pit for use on various construction projects. No disturbed land was available for
reclamation. Minimal additional land is expected to be disturbed during 2002 by mining. No
disturbed land is expected to be available for reclamation in 2002. During 2001 additional
reclaimed concrete was accumulated for future crushing and use as construction aggregate.
A portion of the permitted area is used by Aggregate Industries, Inc. to process construction
aggregates under agreement with the permittee. In 2001 Aggregate Industries hauled crushed
construction aggregates from its quarries to the Lawrence Pit for temporary storage and washing
through a portable wash plant with a permitted closed circuit wash system. In the last half of
2001 Aggregate Industries moved its portable wash plant from the permit azea to another
location off site. Stored aggregate is subsequently sent to customers by Aggregate Industries.
