• 2.3.5 WPOll
WPOll is comprised of 1.7 aces of moderate to steeply sloping revegetation that has a
predominately northeasterly aspect. This unit was seeded in 2001 and therefore, has undergone two
growing seasons prior to sampling in 2003. A total of 29 plant taxa were observed in the unit (see Table
19).
Ground cover (Fgure 13) wnsisted of 55.2% live vegetation, 1.5% rock, 3.2% standing dead,
14.5% litter, and bare soil exposure of 25.6%. Perennial cover across the unit averaged 8.7% with
annual and biennial cover averaging 46.5%. The dominant taxa were field pennycress, Russian thistle,
and streambank wheatgrass with 22.5%, 21.8%, and 1.8°h average cover, respectively. Woody plant
density was determined from 15 bek transacts and totaled 8 young and mature stems per acre (Table 2)
with fourwing saltbush the dominant woody plant.
Noxious weeds appear to be well controlled in this unit and the annual brome populations are
subdued unit-wide. Although cover by the early-seral species, field pennycress and Russian thistle, is
elevated, ground Dover by perennials appears sufficient to progress to dominance over the next few
• years. The shrub population is very modest, and is comprised primarily of four-wing saltbush. Overall,
the unit appears typical of reasonable two-year old revegetation, therefore no recommendations are
proffered other than continued monitoring, especially during the fourth growing season (2005).
J
rcennecorc aegy Co. icaay° IIrU~a Page 47 Revegetaflon 1laonnorrng - 2003
